This is the most popular day tour in Iceland for reasons which will become obvious. Your first stop is the national park of Þingvellir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and where you can see the tectonic plates of North America and Europe being slowly pulled apart. Then it is time to stop for a delicious lunch in a local greenhouse.

From here, you will head to one of the most famous geothermal hot spots in Iceland – Geysir. Erupting every 5-8 minutes, Strokkur is a geyser that draws the crowds all year round. Geysers get their name from this very spot. Finally, you will visit Gullfoss. This stunning waterfall is possibly the most famous waterfall in Iceland. Then it is time to head back to the city to do as you please in the evening.

It is also rich in natural beauty, from the waterfalls of Barnafoss and Hraunfossar, where the porous lava churns the river into an electric blue, to the majestic glacier Langjökull on the horizon.

You will also visit the historical site of Reykholt, and the final resting place of Snorri Sturluson, one of Iceland’s most famous writers and historians. Then, we will return to the city for one last summer evening spent strolling the streets or taking in the summer nightlife.

It is time to head home. However, depending on your flight time, you might be able to pay one last visit to the shops, grab a coffee, or take a final stroll. You might even be able to use this day to visit the Blue Lagoon right before you leave. Either way, whilst we are sure you will be sad to leave, you will be dreaming of returning.
