Driving Distance: Approx.
Optional Activities: Sky Lagoon, FlyOver Iceland, Northern Lights Tour
A very warm, winter welcome to Iceland. After an easy transition through Arrivals, your driver will be waiting for you. The city of Reykjavík is a mere 40-minute journey through the lava fields of the Reykjanes peninsula. Depending on your arrival time and mood, you can stop at the Blue Lagoon on your way to town for some relaxing downtime in milky blue geothermal waters.
Your hotel will be in downtown Reykjavík, and you will be able to check in before explore the city by yourself. It is impossible to be bored in Reykjavík, with lots of museums, incredible restaurants, and plenty of lively bars. You can even join a Northern Lights tour in the evening if the weather is right.
Double/Twin room with private bathroom, breakfast included.
Þingvellir National Park
Geysir & Strokkur
Gullfoss Waterfall
Driving Distance: Approx.
Optional Activities: Laugarvatn Fontana
Today, your adventure begins. You will first head towards the national park of Þingvellir, one of two UNESCO World Heritage sites in Iceland. Here, you can walk in the rift of the continental plates of Europe and North America!
Your next stop is the world-famous site of Geysir. This iconic location is where you will find Strokkur, which erupts every 5-8 minutes – the most active geyser in Europe. From here, it is a mere 20 minutes or so to the next stop, which is the beautiful waterfall of Gullfoss (Golden Falls). Water rushes and cascades over two platforms and down into the canyon below. Especially in the wintertime, this is a sight to behold!
Double/Twin room with private bathroom, breakfast included.
Seljalandsfoss & Skógafoss Waterfalls
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
Vík Village
Driving Distance: Approx.
Optional Activities: Glacier Hiking
Your third day will be along the very famous and very popular South Coast of Iceland. Two of the most well-known sites here are some of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls: Venture into the cave behind Sejlalandsfoss waterfall, and stand before the stunning and dramatic Skógafoss, as powerful as it is beautiful. Looking to the left, it is possible to get a glimpse of a volcano that made headlines around the world. Eyjafjallajökull sent a shockwave throughout global air traffic, as its colossal ash plume grounded flights, causing untold chaos.
You will also see Iceland’s famous and iconic black sand beaches. These special volcanic sands stretch along the South Coast, and one of the most incredible places to visit is Reynisfjara. The drama and atmosphere of this place is undeniable, as the ocean currents smash the shore against a backdrop of imposing, basalt columns and craggy sea-stacks. You will then check in and chill out at your country hotel.
Double/Twin room with private bathroom, breakfast included.
Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
Diamond Beach
Kirkjubæjarklaustur
Driving Distance: Approx.
Optional Activities:
After a buffet breakfast, you will head further along the South Coast towards the national park of Vatnajökull. The glacier itself is the largest glacier in Europe, and the entire area is protected and Iceland’s second UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is where you will find the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and you will take a boat tour to see the glacier from up close. It is where large icebergs break away from Vatnajökull glacier and gradually drift their way out to the ocean. No two icebergs are the same, and so you can gaze at these magnificent ice structures before they are eroded by the ocean.
The beach nearby this area is called Diamond Beach. The reason for this is because there are chunks of ice that lie scattered over the black sand. This is what is left when the ocean’s current breaks down larger icebergs and returns pieces to the beach as they glitter and sparkle in the sun. After this marvel, you will then head to your hotel.
Double/Twin room with private bathroom, breakfast included.
Stykkishólmur Village
Kirkjufell Mountain
Lóndrangar Sea Stacks
Arnastapi
Djúpalónssandur Black Beach
Driving Distance: Approx.
Optional Activities:
Today, you will visit one of the most beautiful regions of Iceland, which is a little less frequently visited. The Snæfellsnes peninsula in West Iceland, with its snow-capped Snæfellsjökull volcano the jewel in its crown, is an area of remarkable natural beauty. From the rugged cliffs of Arnarstapi, to the majestic mountain of Kirkjufell. It really is a place that needs to be seen, especially in the winter months, as it takes on a whole different character!
Double/Twin room with private bathroom, breakfast included.
Capital Reykjavík
Blue Lagoon
Driving Distance: Approx.
Optional Activities: Sky Lagoon, FlyOver Iceland
It is time to be heading to the airport, but if you have some spare time, you can always hit the streets one last time, or buy any souvenirs. You will end your adventure in style and visit the world-famous Blue Lagoon (if you haven’t already on day 1) as it is just a short skip and a hop to the airport from there. No matter how you use your last day, you will have had an incredible winter adventure, and we cannot wait to see you again!
