Capital Reykjavík
Driving Distance: Approx. 50 km
Optional Activities: Guided City Tour, Food Tour, FlyOver Iceland
You arrive in Iceland and included is your direct transfer to the city of Reykjavík. This buzzing city, the most northerly capital city in the world, is alive with its welcoming atmosphere and there are more than enough bars, restaurants, and cafés to keep you entertained and to experience the local vibe. This is your chance to explore what Reykjavík has to offer, which is quite a lot.
The first day is planned around your arrival, and the group will only meet at the accommodation in the evening. This is a great opportunity to get to know your fellow voyagers before the adventure begins the next day.
Double/Twin room with private bathroom, breakfast included.
Reykjanes Peninsula
Blue Lagoon
Driving Distance: Approx.
Optional Activities:
Your adventure begins, and what better way to start than to head directly to the reason why Iceland has been in the news lately: The live, volcanic eruption in Geldingadalur. After breakfast, strap your hiking boots and gather with your group, as you will be taken directly to the volcano site on the incredible Reykjanes peninsula. Molten, hot magma spews forth, creating new land around the valley. It is quite difficult to explain this experience, so we’d best leave that for you to discover for yourself.
The hike is around 2-3 hours in total, and after your date with this mountain of fire, you can take a well-earned dip in the milky, blue waters of the famous Blue Lagoon and treat yourself to a natural mud pack of enriching silica. Then you will be taken back to your accommodation to decompress, and the rest of the evening is yours.
Double/Twin room with private bathroom, breakfast included.
Þingvellir National Park
Friðheimar Tomato Farm
Geysir & Strokkur
Gullfoss Waterfall
Driving Distance: Approx.
Optional Activities:
Perhaps Iceland’s most famous day tour is the Golden Circle. Þingvellir National Park is one of the most politically and geologically significant locations in Iceland. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is where you will see the North American and Eurasian tectonic literally being pulled apart. After this is a lunch stop at Friðheimar tomato farm, where you can taste their famous tomato soup and freshly baked bread. You can even try their award-winning Bloody Marys!
We will then take you to the world-famous Geysir, shooting 100 degrees boiling water up to 40 meters in the air. Then we visit the stunning cascade of Gullfoss before heading to your countryside accommodation, complete with a bar, restaurant, and hot tubs where you can mingle with your group and fellow travelers.
Double/Twin room with private bathroom, breakfast included.
Seljalandsfoss & Skógafoss Waterfalls
Shuttle Transfer to the DC-3 Plane Wreck
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
Driving Distance: Approx.
Optional Activities: Glacier Hiking, ATV Tour
Today, we venture south towards two of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls: Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, which have been featured in many movies and TV shows. The South Coast is also home to the glacier of Sólheimajökull. Take a moment to gaze upon this majestic glacier before it disappears forever, as it is shrinking fast! You can choose to upgrade your included shuttle transfer to the DC-3 plane wreck into a glacier hike on Sólheimajökull instead.
Or, you can hit full-throttle and drive along the black sand beach of Sólheimasandur with the raging Atlantic Ocean beside you. This also gives you an opportunity to visit the famous plane wreck, one of Iceland’s most Instagrammed locations.
If you want to take it easy today, then you can take a short beach shuttle ride to visit the DC-3 plane wreck. Your accommodation will be another cozy and social hotel in the countryside.
Double/Twin room with private bathroom, breakfast included.
Reykjadalur Hot Spring Valley Hike
Driving Distance: Approx.
Optional Activities: Horseback Riding
Today we head back to Reykjavík, but we have one last stop to make. You are in for one relatively easy hike to the hot spring river of Reykjadalur. Here, you can bathe in completely natural, hot water in this stunning valley. If you don't feel like hiking or taking a dip, you can alternatively go horseback riding on the popular Icelandic horses, in the surrounding countryside of the beautiful village of Hveragerði.
Then, it is just a short drive to Reykjavík, where there will be a farewell dinner in the evening. You can share contact details, stories, and photos with your fellow adventurers and enjoy one last chance to experience Reykjavík’s pulsing nightlife.
Double/Twin room with private bathroom, breakfast included.
Capital Reykjavík
Driving Distance: Approx.
Optional Activities:
It’s time to say farewell, but hopefully not for long. Maybe you have just enough time to buy that woolen sweater you have had your eye on, visit the Cat Café you read about, or buy some Icelandic candy to take home to your friends and family.
You will be collected close to your accommodation and taken directly to the airport in time for your journey home. We are sure we will be seeing you again soon!
