In just 7 days, you will get a chance to see Iceland’s finest backdrops: Experience the raging power of Geysir as it shoots water high up into the sky, take a walk behind the Seljalandsfoss waterfall or enjoy the captivating sights of Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. If you would like to spend one more day, you can easily add an extra night and decide on an exciting additional activity!

 

We will take care of everything, from airport transfers to hotel bookings, so you do not have to worry about anything. You can easily add activities to your tours should you wish to do so, and we will always be only one phone call away!

Itinerary

Day 1

Highlights:

The first day of this trip is dedicated to your arrival at Keflavík International Airport. No matter the time you arrive, there will always be a shuttle bus waiting for you outside the airport terminal. If you are not too tired from your journey, you can choose to be dropped off at the Blue Lagoon or continue straight towards Reykjavík.

 

Today is all about taking it easy! After settling in your hotel, why not take a stroll around Reykjavík’s buzzing city center, enjoy a beer at a local bar or join a guided food tour, to learn more about culinary Iceland.

Day 2

Highlights:

Today, you travel to the Southwest to discover one of the most popular and picturesque routes in the country - the Golden Circle. We head straight to Þingvellir, a UNESCO heritage site filled with history and natural wonders. You could also opt for an extra activity, and go horseback riding.

 

You then continue onto Strokkur, Europe’s only active geyser, before proceeding towards the stunning Gullfoss waterfall. If you are feeling adventurous here, you can opt to add a snowmobiling tour to get your adrenaline pumping!

 

You will then head back to Reykjavík, where you will have the evening off to explore the town, should you wish to do so.

Day 3

Highlights:

Seljalandsfoss & Skógafoss Waterfalls
Vatnajökull Glacier

Summary:

Accommodation: South Coast

This morning, you will head towards Iceland’s South Coast, dotted with natural wonders all along its vivid coastline. Walk-behind Seljalandsfoss waterfall for a truly remarkable experience whilst enjoying the Dyrhólaey cliffs in the distance. Snap a photo right next to Skógafoss or why not follow the path leading to the top of the falls and admire the views from above!

 

During summer, you will strap on your crampons and go on a guided glacier hike in Skaftafell, on one of Vatnajökull’s many glacier tongues.

 

During winter, you will get a chance to explore a mesmerizing blue ice cave and hunt for the northern lights!

Day 4

Your first stop for today is Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, serenely sitting at the foot of Vatnajökull glacier. Enjoy the many sights and sounds of icebergs peacefully floating in the lagoon before stopping across the road to admire the unique landscape of the black-sanded Diamond Beach. Take a stroll along the beach and enjoy the many fragments of icebergs idyllically reflecting the sunrays on its endless shoreline.

 

You will of course also make a stop at the famous black sand beach of Reynisfjara, before heading back to Reykjavík, where you will spend the night.

Day 5

Marvel at the wonders of the Snæfellsnes peninsula as you head towards West Iceland. Nicknamed ‘Iceland in Miniature’, this region truly embodies the best of what Iceland has to offer.

 

Wonder at Búðakirkja black church and enjoy the endless lava field that surrounds it. You can also take a walk along Djúpalónssandur beach, which is mentioned in many sagas. The quiet fishing village of Arnarstapi, with its rugged coastline, is another picturesque stop, and you should always keep an eye out for seals here.

 

On the way back to Reykjavík, you will stop at Iceland’s most photographed mountain, featured in Game of Thrones: Mount Kirkjufell. A real highlight!

Day 6

Today you have a free full day to experience Reykjavík. Take it easy by enjoying a late brunch at one of the city’s many chic restaurants. Do some last-minute shopping, go to the National Museum, or even join a guided city tour to learn more about Reykjavík.

 

If you are feeling hungry, then we highly suggest you book a Food Tour. You will meet fellow travelers, and at the same time, your taste buds will be fully satisfied! Another exciting option on this day is a hike to the Fagradalsfjall volcano, which erupted in 2021. On this trip, you can marvel at the lava streams and experience this newly created landscape.

This morning, you can either check out and head back to Keflavík international airport where your plane back home awaits, or you can further extend your trip to enjoy Iceland one more day!

 

This day then offers the perfect opportunity for one last stroll through the colorful streets of Reykjavík. You can also opt to go on a whale-watching tour, or experience a virtual sightseeing flight over Iceland, giving you a bird's eye view of all the island's natural wonders!

Unfortunately, we have to part ways today, but hopefully not for long! Depending on your flight departure time, you can stroll through Reykjavík one last time, buy souvenirs or even stop by the Blue Lagoon on your way to the airport.
