Wakey-wakey! Today, wherever you choose to go is completely up to you. If the active volcano at Geldingadalur valley is one of the reasons for your journey, then today could be your chance for an exciting tour around the volcanic peninsula of Reykjanes.

Amongst the locations to visit is the Bridge Between Continents, where you can walk from Europe to North America. Also, the geothermal field of Krýsuvík awaits you with bubbling mud springs, hissing and steaming fumaroles, and a myriad of colored rocks. Sharp lava landscapes and picturesque coastal sections define this ruggedly beautiful peninsula.

Near the town of Grindavík, where you can make a quick stop for a bite to eat, begins the hike like no other, directly to the volcano Fagradalsfjall in the valley Geldingadalur. After about 1.5 hours, the road over rough lava rock is rewarded with a breathtaking sight: This active volcano spewing glowing, orange, liquid rock is constantly forming new shapes and changing the landscape.

You will be feeling the heat whilst listening to the brooding of the crater as the crackling and popping lava flows and cools. Something very special is happening here: brand-new earth! You will never forget this experience, and what a perfect opportunity to send your selfies to everyone back at home, turning them green with envy! After the hike, you can still opt for a relaxing visit to the Blue Lagoon.

Alternatively, on this day you can explore the famous Golden Circle with the Þingvellir National Park, the Great Geyser, and the Gullfoss Waterfall. The beautiful South Coast awaits you with the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, the black sandy beach Reynisfjara and the pretty coastal town of Vík. The idyllic Borgarfjörður in the west of the island is somewhat less visited, and yet still has many wonderful attractions, such as the lava waterfall Hraunfossar.

Whatever you decide to do, we will provide you with all the information you need.
