Iceland’s diverse landscapes, including waterfalls, glaciers, and volcanoes, make it a perfect road trip destination. The Ring Road offers a comprehensive route to explore the country’s beauty.
Summer is popular for extended daylight hours and milder weather. Winter offers the highest chance to see the Northern Lights. Spring and fall are less crowded with unique charms.
We include a rental car, accommodation for each night of your Iceland Self-drive tours, a detailed itinerary and professional assistance through our team. Apart from that, everything that is listed in the “Included” section of the tour, as it might differ.
This depends on the itinerary, and we will only offer our recommended car types as options to choose for each individual Self-drive tour. For tours that include the Highlands, or winter tours in the East and North, we offer 4×4 cars. For other tours, that are available all year round, we recommend 4×4 cars in the winter months, but it is not mandatory and depends on your own need for safety.
Yes, familiarize yourself with Iceland’s traffic rules and road signs. Drive on the right side of the road, adhere to speed limits, and be cautious of changing weather conditions.
Some highlights include the Golden Circle, Vatnajökull National Park, Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, and the North Iceland’s picturesque landscapes. We can tailor your itinerary to include these iconic spots.
Included in your Iceland Self-drive tour is a detailed itinerary, that gives in-depth information about all the highlights covered along your route. It will be easy to locate them with the indicated location names from Google Maps.
The Icelandic road system is also very easy to navigate on, once you leave the capital. There is basically only one main road leading around the country, which will take you to the main sights.
While the main roads are well-maintained, some remote areas may have challenging conditions. We provide up-to-date information on road conditions and offer suitable vehicles for various terrains.
Absolutely. For winter bookings we only offer tours that are suitable for winter driving. These Self-drive tours are typically slow paced and cover the South and West of Iceland. The winter service is more frequent in these regions, and snowfall is usually not as heavy as in the East, North or in the Westfjords. If you do not feel comfortable driving in wintery conditions, however, we recommend opting for one of our guided tours.
You can easily book your self-drive tour online through our website or contact our customer service team. We’ll guide you through the booking process and address any questions you may have.
Valid for departure in Oct.-Nov. 2024
